The time is know to get out and get on some hot speckled trout fishing action. The lake is as hot as it will get this year and trout are flying in over the gunnels of all the DockSide Guide boats. Matrix Shad, Vortex Shad and Live shrimp has been the ticket. If you are a live bait fisherman you can get all you want from South Shore Bait and Marina off Chef Hwy next to the yellow store. If you enjoy chunking plastics Lemon Head Matrix Shad along with Purple Haze Vortex attached to a 3/8 oz Bull’s Eye Jig Head is hot as ever. We have been fishing all three bridges daily and averaging 20-60 trout a trip. The Causeway is starting to crank up and bull reds are starting to gather on the LnN train bridge in the rigolets. Look for some solid 3-5 lb females to show face on the Lake Pontchartrain bridges around the full moon of May but those old stories of 6,7 and 8 pound fish look to be missing once again in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin. We are not really sure what happened to the true trophies we used to catch so often but the common reports of a 6 or 7 pound trout we used to hear about daily seems like a story we here about yearly now of days. The good news is that there is plenty of 12-20″ trout out there to be caught so get out there and pick up all your Matrix products at www.MatrixShad.com and check out all the latest DockSide TV videos at www.DockSideLA.com
