On March 28th I had no idea what I was going to catch that night. I went out in some sloppy conditions with three to four footers and a stout SE 20 mph wind. I had no idea I was going to catch the trout of a lifetime, a ten and a half pounder. I threw out my favorite rig, a GoldenEye 1/4 oz jig head with an Egret Baits 3.5″ wedgetail in the creole magic color. As soon as it hit the water that big girl smoked it. She had my All Star Classic 7 foot rod bent to the max. My Shimano Chonarch got the job done getting the fish to the boat. At 10 at night I had no idea who to call to get her weighed that late, so I made the call to keep fishing. The GoldenEye jig head and the Egret Baits wedge tail finished the night off with a cooler full of sow trout.
