Well it is finally here. Warming southerly winds. spawning Specks, spawning Crappie, March Madness and crawfish. Now thats a lot of fun stuff for one month. We are going talk about the specks and sacs (sacalait). March is know as a very windy month so your going to need to pick your days or just fight the wind. Certain winds are worth fighting and some are worth hiding from. On your calmer or south eastern wind driven days I would target your favorite spots in Lake Pontchartrain including the bridges. On west wind days or days the winds are simply too tuff duck off way in the back of the rivers and bayous of the Pontchartrain basin. If the Pearl River gets inside its banks it is probably the best. If it stays high look for Bayou Lacombe to be a nice area to catch some crappie. Crappie and Trout both spawn during this month and are eager to eat. Big trout can be found lurking shorelines in Lake Catherine also and can be caught on the Matrix Mullet Top Water. In Pontchartrain they tend to like it a little deeper and bouncing a Matrix or Vortex Shad on your favorite structures tend to yield the best catches. Simply play the wind this time of year. March is a great month but it is a windy month.
