October was a good one but look for November to be even better. The trout should certainly get bigger. All October all we did was chase down birds but look for the trout to settle in on structures during November such as the bridges and MRGO rocks. Make sure to continue to look for birds as that won’t stop until January but during November you can count on fish to set up on ambush points and structures as shrimp move out more. Look for where loons are congregating. Not lions as in craze people but the birds that dove underwater. When you see them they are feeding on the same thing big specks are. Make sure to fish before approaching fronts and 2 days after when winds settle. 3/8 and 1/2oz Golden eye jig heads will be a must on the bridges with your favorite Matrix or Vortex Shad for the big trout. If you want to try your luck at a big one on the MRGO rocks make sure to throw jerk baits. Our Matrix Minnow is deadly down there and that area will produce mules the colder it gets.
