A new year of fishing Louisiana. 2021 was far from a cake walk with a lot of adversity for our lovely state. Let’s hope 2022 can bring some easier times for the boot. As far on what yo expect for fishing to begin the the year will all depend on how cold of a winter we have. If the fronts are far and few between keeping the waters warm and clean look for the conventional spots in the lake like the bridges to continue to produce. The Great Wall is another great area to target in January but his has been poor so far this winter. If the fronts stay consistent we like to target reds and bass deep in the marsh especially when the water is low. Low water really consolidates the bass and reds this time of year. Depending on how cold it gets will depend on how deep they go. It could be the skinniest of ditches that feed a shallow duck pond or it could be a very deep man made canal or dead end that they take cover in to survive freezing temps. January is typically a pretty good month but things really get tough in February.
