After a dismal and wet August this summer, September has seen more sun than the equator. Blue bird sunny days on the regular bringing out record setting heat waves also. The good news is the red fish love the sun and could care less about the heat. The good news for us red fish hunters is they stick out like a sore thumb on bright sunny September days. We have been targeting heavy vegetation areas off the ICW, Pearl River and Chef Pass area. Shallow duck ponds that don’t have too much grass is what we are looking for. We haven’t been seeing a ton of reds but the ones we are seeing are mean and angry. What they are doing to the Matrix Craw is not kind or gentle as you can see in this latest Dockside TV episode.
