http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAcdq47Tzzk Between the Ice Storms, the wind and rain and even threats of snow the Lake Pontchatrain estuary is still giving up good redfish catches through out the month of February. The marsh off Irish Bayou has been productive for reds and bass where and so has the Chalmette area. The new wall and old locks has produced limits of reds all winter where the Dike canal has been a nice place to target bass. The chef pass area has still produced plenty of redfish where lakeshore estates and Gohegans canal are also good places to stay close to the launch and pick up some nice fish. The “Spartacus” Vortex Shad has been the ticket for Reds. The 3/8 oz Black Platinum Jig Head has been best hook for reds. When fishing the bass we have been using the “Ultra Violet” Matrix Shad. Trout unfortunately have been non existent but the Reds and Bass have surely taken up there slack. Look for the bridges to start holding a few trout toward the end of this month as water temps rise.
