After another very fresh year in our estuary, a salt water surge has made its way back into Lake Pontchartrain after being at 1ppt for almost the entire year. At the end of July the salt ppt jumped all the way up to 17ppt and now sits around 5ppt. Look for summer trout spots to come alive such as the Lake Borgne rigs, LnN train bridge, Lake Catherine and more. Make sure to check out our Dockside TV fishing with our new Croaker Xshad on the Lake Borgne rigs, as that’s a great place to start looking for August trout. For me personally I will probably continue to sight fish reds on sunny days but jig them on the bridges on cloudy days. Make sure to check out our other late Dockside TV’s jigging the bridges in Lake Pontchartrain for reds. That is a great “stay close to home” option. Either way fishing should now be on the up and up after Hurricane Hanna pushed a good amount of salt back into Lake Pontchartrain.
Until Next Time Good Fishing
