https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAUXcLTodmg This April has been full of freshwater and small male trout. The Pearl River has been flooding into Lake Pontchartrain making it very hard to find the mule trout the Lake is so known for. We are now at the end of April and we just started catching some fat pregnant trout. Numbers of big fish have been low but it is nice to see the big females starting to show and grow. Big fat bellies are what we chase this time of year here at DockSide. Those 3,4 and 5 lb trout is what every Lake angler wants to see. It’s fun to catch those stacked up school trout like we did in the last DockSide TV video but us at DockSide would rather catch 10 mules over 50 schoolies any day. The color of late has no question been “Magneto” Matrix Shad. There is a ton of baby poggies and glass minnows in the lake and that is the best mimic of those fin fish. The big trout below were caught on a late afternoon trip in Eastern Lake Pontchartrain in late April this year. Look for Salinities to continue to creep back up and these fat pregnant trout to keep migrating to our side of the Lake. Until next time good fishing. www.DockSideLA.com www.MatrixShad.com
