Well September felt more like August making us crave October cool fronts more than normal. The good news is we look like we escaped the heart of hurricane season yet again and the trout have already started their move to the west. Usually we do not start making good trout catches until October but we consistently keep putting specks in the boat from Mud Lake and Lake Catherine everyday. The trick is to stick and move drifting far off the banks with a matrix float above your favorite matrix shad or Tko shrimp. Look for the trout to shift over from the float to the matrix mullet and grow substantially in size once the October fronts begin. Make sure to target hard grass lines and look for shrimp and bird activity during this month. Where the shrimp are is the key. Also if you want to sleep in on a sunny day make sure to go sight fishing in the skinniest of water. Make sure to do that late allowing the duck hunters to finish their hunts.
