https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vquF0DMqdsI After a good fall last year and a decent opening few weeks of spring searching for big trout, our big trout chase has been dismal of late. Catches of 15-45 trout currently are regular but a 16″ trout has been a big one, thats right a 16 incher. At least we are getting bit! Finding a trophy has been a problem last few weeks. Tremendous amounts of rain, continuous cold fronts and abundance of freshwater has plagued the area. Whether its from the closure of the MRGO or simply too much rain or just a bad cycle a wall hanger is tuff to come by. It looks like our April big trout run is going to be a swing and a miss this year. It can all change in a blink of an eye so don’t count on May to miss like April has. April has been ok for numbers of trout and good for flounder but trout over the 4lb class has been hard to come by. As soon as April showers quit and bring May flowers the tide could change. We need salinities to get in the 4-7 range and lately it has been in the 1-3 causing the abundance of schoolies. Come see us at DockSide as the bite is on but your landing net could stay at home. Make sure to get some grease though as the best eating size trout are roaming the area. Until next time: Good Fishing www.MatrixShad.com
