Scott & Baylie Comeaux win 1st place in Saltwater Speckled Trout Series out of Mandeville, LA

Scott & Baylie Comeaux pre fished Friday out in the sound in hopes that the weather man was going to be wrong in their favor. Here is what he had to say about the Mandeville Speckled Trout Tournament:
“We caught some good trout. One of the fish my daughter caught was pushing 6 lbs. so we left that place alone and went to chandeleur to play around. We caught reds, trout, a big shark, some Spanish macks, and even found a triple tail on a floating dead redfish. Unfortunately on Tournament morning came and the wind was howling so off to the trestles went along with the other tournament boats. North shore was covered in boats so we went to mid lake. All by ourselves, with in 30 min, we had our 1st fish. I knew she was over 4 lbs, but not by much. We waited a little hoping to boat another. At 10 min to 8 and only a couple 11″ fish, the big fish was not going to make it much longer, so off to the scales. After weighing our 1st fish I decided to hit the causeway. Fished about 5 poles and just didn’t feel it. Ran back to the trestles to finish the day. Caught some more fish with our biggest being about 1.5 lbs. time to leave for weigh in. Total weight was 5.87 lbs. our 1.5 pound fish was dead at weigh in, so with our .5 lb loss we won 1st place with 5.37 lbs. it was my 1st tournament to fish with my daughter. We had a real good time and now she is hooked on competition fishing! All fish on both days were caught on Matrix Shad Midnight Mullet.”

Ryan Schellhaas: “We fished hard all day long never putting our poles down. The quintessential bait of the day was the new Ultra Violet Matrix shad on the 3/8oz black nickel golden eye jig head. We hit our winning fish first thing in the morning at the Old twin span.” Josh hall: “since we have had our focus on redfish for the better part of the year so far it was nice to take a break and do what I love best, beat the pilings with some matrix shad. We were unable to get to our fish on the south shore due to inclimate weather conditions but we just stuck to what we know best”. The matrix shad is the only lure we have in our boxes whether we are fishing lake Pontchartrain or getting shallow in the marsh and sight fishing redfish, there is no other lure on the shelf that will give you the same smooth action and durabilty, A definate must have for the avid angler!
